Web Shares and Folder Permissions

This section describes permissions and shares which you may need to setup for the web application and builder. Generally, all the folder permissions should be set by the web application installer. Shares only need to be established if the builder will be running on a different machine, as it needs access to several folders under the web application for both reading and writing.

Folder Permissions

Ensure that your web service account (the network account under which the web application will run) and your builder service account (if different) have read access to the application folder and all subfolders. In addition, the service accounts should have read/write/modify access on the following folders: data, design, mySobek, and temp.

Any users that will be modifying collections should also have read/write/modify rights on the design folder.

Configuring Shares

You will need to add shares to the following folders. Below are the suggested names, although you can certainly use your own share names. These values will be entered into the database in final configuration, so make note of any changes.

  • Make a share on the entire application folder named SobekCM_Production. This should be read only access and include the builder service account.
  • Make a share on the data subfolder named SobekCM_Data and ensure the builder service account has read/write/modify rights on this share.
  • Make a share on the design subfolder named SobekCM_Design and ensure the builder service account has read/write/modify rights on this share, as well as any user accounts which should be able to modify collections, skins, thumbnails, etc..
