BibID Element HelpDefinitionThe Bibliographic Identifier (or BibID) is a system generated identifier for an item. The Bibliographic ID is visible in the record information for the item, and is incorporated into the permanent link for the item. Users can search for items using the Bibliographic ID. BibIDs are ten digits long. The last four digits are always numeric and the first two are always letters. The middle four are alpha-numeric. The alphabetic characters should be capitalized. Form ElementThe online form element appears as below: The Bibliographic Identifier is generally read-only and can not be edited in the web application. Best Practices and ExamplesThe Bibliographic ID is automatically generated by the system. SobekCM / MODS EncodingThe BibID appears in several spots in the SobekCM METS Files. It, along with the Volume Identifier, form the object id, which appears in the main METS tag and also the METS header. In addition, it also appears in the custom SobekCM schema. <METS:mets OBJID="UF00078639_00006" > Metadata MappingMARC to MODS MappingThis does not map from the MARC records, as this field is not present in the book records.
