Separate Image Server or Site

By default, the digital resource files and metadata are all placed in a content subfolder under the web application. Instructions here explain how this could be moved to a separate storage server or a separate web site.

Irregardless of which choice you employ below, you will need to update the Image Server URL information within the SobekCM System Administrator Settings to match the web location of your images.

Separate File/Storage Server - Same Site

Even if your files are on a separate server (quite likely as the overall size of your digital resources grow), you can still use the same web server/site. Go into the IIS Server Manager on your web server, and add a virtual directory under the main SobekCM site. You may name this virtual directory any unused name. I recommend you use content as the name. Map this virtual directory to the base directory of your SobekCM resources. This setup continues to allow your system to manage the web files for IP restriction purposes.

Separate Site

You could also generate a new web site on the same web server. This setup continues to allow your system to manage the web files for IP restriction purposes, but requires a separate base URL for your images.

Separate Server

This setup is not recommended, as the system will not allow IP restriction correctly, without some code changes.
